# BotSmith Account Settings: Profile and Email Updates

> Update your display name, change your email address, and manage your account security settings from the BotSmith Account Settings page.

The Account Settings page is your central hub for managing your BotSmith profile and account security. Access it by clicking your avatar in the top-right corner and selecting **Account Settings**.

## Profile Information

Your display name appears across the BotSmith interface wherever your identity is shown. The avatar next to your name is automatically generated from the first letter of your name — you cannot upload a custom image.

To update your display name:

    Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select **Account Settings**.

  <Step title="Edit your name">
    In the **Profile Information** section, update the **Name** field with your preferred display name.

  <Step title="Save changes">
    Click **Save changes** to apply the update.

Your change takes effect immediately across all areas of BotSmith where your name is displayed.

## Email Address

Your email address is used to sign in to BotSmith and to receive any notifications you have enabled. To update it:

    Navigate to **Account Settings** using the avatar menu in the top-right corner.

  <Step title="Update your email">
    In the **Email** section, replace the current address with your new email address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save** to apply the change. BotSmith will use the new address for all future sign-ins and emails.

<Note>
  Your new email address must not already be registered to another BotSmith account.
</Note>

## Deleting Your Account

If you want to permanently close your BotSmith account, you can do so from the **Danger Zone** section at the bottom of Account Settings.

    On the Account Settings page, scroll to the bottom to find the **Danger Zone** section.

  <Step title="Click Delete Account">
    Click the **Delete Account** button.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm deletion">
    Read the confirmation prompt carefully, then click **Yes, Delete My Account** to proceed.
  </Step>

<Warning>
  Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed. Deleting your account removes all your agents, uploaded sources, conversation history, and your profile information immediately. Export any data you need before proceeding — once deleted, nothing can be recovered.

After deletion, you are signed out and your account is removed from BotSmith along with all associated data.
